In 2009, Al received the Al Stohlman Award for Outstanding Achievement in Leathercraft. The Stohlman award honors the accomplishments of individual leatherworkers and is given only to people who have demonstrated dedication to the craft by following the example set by Al Stohlman, one of the world’s most talented, best known and respected leatherworkers.

In June 2010, Al was invited to show his saddle at the prestigious Buffalo Bill Historical Center’s The Art of the Horse: an Invitational Show for Western Gear Makers in Cody, Wyoming. This show features a stunning display of western artistry -- the finest of saddles, bits and spurs, silver engraving, rawhide braided gear, and other custom crafted items of the horse.
